The Role of Artificial Intelligence Algorithms in the Diagnosis of Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Abstract

Hepatocellular carcinoma is the fifth most common malignancy and the third most common cause of cancer-related death worldwide. Artificial intelligence is a rapidly growing area of ​​interest. We reviewed articles reporting the application of SI in the diagnosis and evaluation of HSC. For this purpose, we have analyzed 27 articles. In the analyzed articles, 19 articles studying CT images (41.30%), 20 articles studying USG images (43.47%), and 7 articles studying MRI images (15.21%) adopted different SI algorithms. No article discussed the use of artificial intelligence in PET and X-ray technology. Our systematic approach showed that previous work on the diagnosis and evaluation of HSC evaluated the comparability of traditional interpretation with machine learning using USG, CT, and MRI.
